Now I understand why everybody is in love with this city.
The charm of this city catches you from the moment you step in. I already wrote about Basque culture, food and architecture in my previous post – Basques. Therefore, I will mainly write about the landscape and express my feelings about San Sebastian through the photos in this blog.
The beaches in San Sebastian are considered to be among the most beautiful beaches in Europe. Especially La Concha beach, which was the best beach in Europe and one of the best six beaches in the world. Situated right in the city Center, from where you can enjoy the view of the blue sea, the colors of the sand, sea and the sun caressing the waves, all while being in the heart of the city. A truly exceptional experience. Regardless of the weather there is always a reason to find the peace at the beach. From sunbathing during hot days, to walking with your dog in a cold winter day or doing yoga in a chilly fall day. All conditions are perfect for a time spent by the seaside.
The beaches of San Sebastian, especially La Concha, used to be the summer destination of the Spanish Royal Family in the past. These beaches are still known until today as The Royal Beaches.
The sandy beaches and ocean are not the only elements composing the unique landscape of San Sebastian. The fact that the city is partially laying on mountains give it an additional magical touch. The view of the endless ocean from the top of the hill and watching the sunset over the ocean is an experience that cannot be put into words.
On some beaches of San Sebastian, and during certain periods, you can witness truly giant waves of 6 meters or more, this has made San Sebastian a major surfer destination. During the period of these high, giant waves, certain roads are blocked of access, but you can still enjoy from certain spots the power and magnificence of the ocean.
